A drummer originating from Hamina Arttu Huopaisen led jazz ensemble South-East Corner represents a new generation of Finnish jazz, where the tradition of jazz meets a distinctive compositional language rooted in the musicians’ local heritage. The ensemble performs original music composed by Huopainen, moving fluidly between melodic expression, rhythmic richness, and freely breathing improvisation. The group’s self-titled debut album South-East Corner was released in January 2026, and it was published by a Finnish record label. Flame Jazz Records.
