Children´s Opera

The Oulu Music Festival 2023 will take us to an adventure with the Swedish and Finnish-speaking mice in OPERA BOX's bilingual children's opera Vickan & Väinö.

A story about two mice who meet in Helsinki in 1840. The mouse Vickan is from Stockholm and speaks only Swedish and happens to meet the Finnish speaking mouse Väinö upon arrival. Together they help architect Carl Ludvig Engel to get back his stolen drawing from his rival architect and, even though they don’t have a common language in the beginning, they learn to understand each other better throughout the opera.

The opera is especially aimed for children between the ages 4 and 10, and is intended to introduce the children to Finland’s second official language – Swedish and to notice how easily we learn to understand each other. Vickan & Väinö is part of the Svenska Kulturfonden's Hallå! -program.

Ticket prices: Normal 10 € / Groups 7€ (min. 5 persons)

Ticketmaster Finland across the country. A service fee is included in the ticket price. A separate Ticketmaster order fee of 1,50–2,00 € per order is added. Tickets without a service fee from Culture Centre Valve. A limited amount of Kaikukortti-tickets are available.

A Festival Pass is also available for the Oulu Music Festival 12.-26.3.2023, which allows the participation intwenty of the festival's concerts. The OMJ 2023 Festival Pass is on sale until March 1, 2023, in limited amount.
