Christmas Jazz: Riikka Keränen Quartet
Oulu-born jazz vocalist Riikka Keränen is one of the most compelling jazz artists on the Finnish music scene. Her music combines elements of post-bop jazz with the nuances and sensitivity of a more pop-oriented approach. Keränen’s strength lies in her ability to bring the sounds of yesterday’s jazz into the present day.
As a versatile vocalist, Keränen is equally at home in concert halls, on festival stages, and in intimate jazz clubs. In performance, she draws audiences into her world with her rich, dark voice and powerful interpretation.
In addition to leading her own ensembles, Keränen is known for her work with the Emma and Teosto Award–nominated vocal group Signé, as well as the Emma Award–winning children’s music group Megasakki.
