Jarmo Saari Solu is a one-man experimental solo project that sounds like a full orchestra. A pioneer of live looping and a guitar wizard, Saari has performed solo in Finland and internationally, including in Japan. Rockadillo released the first of three Solu albums in 2004, when Saari aimed to bring the electric guitar into the 21st century. Solu recently returned to the stage, and the journey continues.
Jarmo Saari is one of the most distinctive guitarists of his generation. A musician, composer, and producer who has performed in over thirty countries and appeared on more than a hundred albums, he was awarded the Suomi Prize in 2012 for his artistic work. He is known for his visual compositional style created for concerts, films, television, choreography, theater, musicals, and albums, as well as for the multilayered collages made with guitar, the human voice, and various rarer instruments, such as the theremin, baroque cello, trombone, and glass harp.
ZetaBoo, XL, Reuna, as well as Jarmo Saari Filmtet, Solu, Trubamolli, and Republic are among his creative works. Saari has worked as a guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer with artists and ensembles such as Tero Saarinen, Jukka Perko, Anna-Mari Kähärä, Michael Brecker, Tapiola Choir, Nils Landgren, Britten Sinfonia, RSO, Meta4 string quartet, Emma Salokoski, EBB, Esko Salminen, Mika Kaurismäki, HKO, Trilok Gurtu, Pekka Kuusisto, UMO, Tuomari Nurmio, Pekka Pohjola, Don Huonot band, Jorma Hynninen, and Pepe Deluxe.
