Percussionist and composer Mikko Hassinen returns to small-ensemble music inspired by his youthful and skilled group. The broad and layered wind orchestration painted on the previous Blood Red album by the Espoo Big Band, which received five stars from Helsingin Sanomat, transforms in the music of Future Food Factory into an intimate and focused vibration of a small collective, where acoustic jazz is infused with an electric layer.
With the album Future Food Factory, Hassinen seeks to musically portray his own complex relationship with nature. The music is fundamentally acoustic and breathing, yet despite its acoustic foundation, the album carries an electric nuance. Many of the tracks have acquired layers in post-production that diverge from traditional quartet jazz: the recorded material has been modified and processed, and an album that begins acoustically gradually transforms into something else along the way.
Mikko Hassinen has had an exceptionally extensive career as a drummer, conductor, composer, arranger, and producer, and his achievements have been recognized with awards such as the Teosto Prize and the Yrjö Award from the Finnish Jazz Federation.

Jazz in Finland 100
In 2026, it will be 100 years since jazz symbolically arrived in Finland aboard the ship *Andania*. The year is therefore a historic anniversary for Finnish jazz: the Jazz Suomi 100 celebratory year. The anniversary highlights Finnish jazz and its creators both in Finland and abroad, celebrating jazz as part of Finland’s cultural heritage. The Jazz Suomi 100 campaign is coordinated by the Finnish Jazz Federation.
