Senni Heiskanen and Rauno Nieminen have been playing the kantele together for seven years. Their shared musical journey began with Saarijärvi kanteles, but in recent years, a rarer and more traditional instrument has also found its way into their playing: the five-string brass kantele.
The brass strings of the vaskikantele give its sound a distinctive character — deep, bright, and rich in nuance. The duo’s repertoire consists mainly of kantele melodies collected more than a hundred years ago in Savo, Karelia, and Northern Ostrobothnia, while stylistically rooted improvisation also plays an essential role in their music. The melodies reflect the oldest layer of the Finnish kantele tradition, in which an entire musical world unfolds from just a handful of notes.
In summer 2026, the duo released an album Kerman vaskikanteleetwhich brings this unique instrument and its centuries-old tradition into the spotlight.

The concert will be held on the upper floor of Mallassauna. Access to the upper floor is via stairs. The venue does not have accessible restroom facilities or an induction loop.
