Oulu Music Festival brings ballet to Oulu as a streamed performance in collaboration with the Finnish National Opera and Ballet!
“Édith Piaf – La vie en rose" is choreographer Reija Wäre's first full-length ballet. The ballet premiered at the Finnish National Ballet in February 2025. Édith Piaf's extraordinary life left behind a musical legacy that continues to be loved decades later. This new ballet is like a kaleidoscopic portrait of Piaf’s life. The work is based on true events but also delves into the inner emotions of its protagonist. The choreography is rooted in the language of classical ballet, while also featuring movement material inspired by contemporary dance, drawing influences from Piaf’s own gestures and way of moving.
Before the screening, a discussion event will be held at Star Movie Theater; the speakers will be announced later. The screening is part of Oulu Music Festival’s Oulu2026 project Sävelten silta (Bridge of Melodies).
