KADRI VOORAND & MIHKEL MÄLGAND (EST)

Kadri Voorand is a vocalist, pianist and composer who creates music through strong emotional storytelling, combining catchy rhythms with a completely unique way of blending improvisational pop, jazz and folk elements. Voorand is a well-established vocalist whose original music and expression have brought her a number of prizes and performances in Estonia as well as abroad, and she has has toured in many countries during her career.

Palkittu Mihkel Mälgand on yksi Viron aktiivisimmista basisteista. Hän on myös tehnyt yhteistyötä jazztähtien, kuten Kurt Ellingin, Nils Landgrenin ja Dave Liebmanin, kanssa. Mälgand esiintyy myös sovittajana ja satunnaisena kirjoittajana Voorandin uusimmalla albumilla ”In Duo with Mihkel Mälgand”.

Voorand’s and Mälgand’s strong sense of each other’s musical rhythm and improvisational moments result in a tight duo. The pop-like melodies are combined with virtuosic improvisations and skilled technique. They perform heartbreaking power ballads next to hip grooves, accompanied by a totally unique twist in the sound and unexpected, daring lyrics.

The concert celebrates UNESCO's International Jazzdaywhich is held yearly on April 30th.

A series ticket is available for the Oulu Music Festival's Spring 2023 Jazz & Etno series. The series ticket is on sale until March 1, 2023, in limited amount. The series ticket includes all spring season 2023 OMJ Jazz & Etno concert series’ concerts.
