Ensemble Gamut! has created a unique sound by boldly blending and reinterpreting elements of medieval music, folk tunes, improvisation, and electronic soundscapes.
The group’s name references the medieval music theory system, the Gamut (introduced by Guido of Arezzo). Additionally, "gamut" refers to a range of colors, and the Finnish word kamut (meaning “buddies”) nods to Finnish folk music and friendship.
Their second album, RE, was nominated for "Ethno Album of the Year" at the 2024 Emma Awards. Both RE and their debut album UT have garnered significant international attention across various music media, spanning genres. They’ve been regularly featured on annual "best albums" lists for classical, early music, and progressive music.
Ensemble Gamut!’s imaginative style has been described as "refreshing, soothing, intriguing, and enlightening." Their highly praised performances have captivated audiences in venues ranging from clubs to museums, medieval churches, and concert halls.
