Versatile interpreters of folk music, Oulu-based violinist and folk musician Erja Pätsi and pianist, harmonium player, composer, and arranger Timo Alakotila, meet on stage to create a unique musical dialogue.
The program features both old and new gems of Finnish – and especially North Ostrobothnian – fiddler music, brought to life with freshness and vitality in the present day. It also includes original compositions and spontaneous improvisations, where tradition and creativity intertwine. The audience can expect a warm-hearted concert that takes them on a journey from dance-like rhythms to delicate moods and surprising musical landscapes.
Erja Pätsi is a violinist and folk musician who specializes in interpreting North Ostrobothnian fiddler music. Her energetic playing and lively performance style sweep listeners into a wide range of atmospheres. In recent years, Erja has worked as a performer, educator, and creator of musical wellbeing experiences, while also pursuing folk music studies at the Sibelius Academy.
Timo Alakotila is a Finnish musician, composer, and arranger whose playing blends folk music traditions seamlessly with shades of jazz and classical music in a distinctive style. He is known for his extensive work in folk music as well as for teaching at the Pop & Jazz Conservatory and the Sibelius Academy. Timo has performed and recorded with numerous top ensembles, such as JPP and Maria Kalaniemi, and has received several awards and honors.

The concert will be held on the upper floor of Mallassauna. Access to the upper floor is via stairs. The venue does not have accessible restroom facilities or an induction loop.
