Solo Piano Dialogues brings two of the most compelling artists in Nordic jazz piano to Oulu. The Estonian pianist and composer Kirke Karja and finnish pianist Tuomo Uusitalo First, they each perform a solo set, allowing their distinctive musical worlds to shine in full. To close the evening, the two pianists come together for a shared improvised musical dialogue, created uniquely in the moment.
Kirke Karja is known for her distinctive harmonic thinking, fearless improvisation, and uncompromising artistic expression. She moves effortlessly between jazz, contemporary music, and experimental music, composing for both chamber ensembles and orchestras while performing actively across Europe.
Named Pori Jazz’s Artist of the Year, Tuomo Uusitalo is an internationally acclaimed pianist, composer, and arranger who spent many years on the New York jazz scene before returning to Finland. He is known for his strong groove, melodic expression, and sophisticated improvisation, as well as his collaborations with numerous leading international jazz artists.
The evening brings together two distinctive artistic voices whose shared improvised dialogue makes every concert a truly unique experience. A rare opportunity to hear two exceptional pianists in the superb acoustics of Oulu City Hall’s magnificent ceremonial hall.

Accessibility
The accessible entrance is located on the Hallituskatu side of the City Hall. There is a button at the entrance that can be used to open the door. If the door does not open, you can press the info buzzer at the entrance to have it opened for you. The accessible entrance leads to the ground floor (0) of the City Hall. The elevator to other floors of the building is located down a long hallway to the right of the entrance. There is a tactile marking on the floor to guide visually impaired individuals toward the elevator. The elevator doors are 90 cm wide.
