Two of today's major jazz music trendsetters meets with two younger generation talents from New York.
American guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel has defined the sound of jazz guitar for decades. Originally from Canada but rising to the starry skies of jazz in New York, Seamus Blake has taken over as the recognizable and unique sound of the modern jazz saxophone.
Rosenwinkel and Blake studied at Berklee College of Music at the same time and played together constantly, but over the years the musicians' paths led to different paths. At the Rosenwinkel-Blake-Mäensivu-Peri concert, a kind of reunion will be heard, in which these musicians, who after their student days have managed to leave their own mark on the contemporary sound of jazz music, return to the same stage. They were joined by Manhattan School of Music graduates Kaisa Mäensivu and Joe Peri, whose musical journey Rosenwinkel and Blake have had a significant impact on both as musicians and composers.
The concert will feature original compositions by the band members as well as jazz standards arranged for this particular ensemble.
