Juhani Aaltonen & Raoul Björkenheim Duo

Two greats who've collaborated with Edward Vesala come together as Juhani Aaltonen and Raoul Björkenheim join forces!

Their album 'Awakening' (2018), recorded during the Tampere Jazz Happening in 2016, has received outstanding reviews, and the duo has been actively performing since its release.

Juhani Aaltonen is one of the most prominent Finnish wind instrumentalists. Throughout his extensive career, he has enjoyed success both with Tasavallan Presidentti and various ensembles of his own. Aaltonen is a founding member of UMO Jazz Orchestra and has been honored with awards like the Jazz Emma and the Yrjö Award.

Raoul Björkenheim gained prominence in the 80s as the frontman of the band Krakatau. Since then, he has prolifically recorded with numerous international top musicians, performed as a soloist with UMO Jazz Orchestra, RSO, and Tampere Philharmonic, and received accolades such as the Yrjö Award and the Jazz Emma.

Saurabh Vartak & Saleel Tambe Duo 

Intialaisen klassisen musiikin bansuri-huilisti Saurabh Vartak ja tablan taituri Gulfam Sabri esiintyvät yhdessä konsertissa, joka vie kuulijan Hindustani-ragamusiikin tunnelmiin.

Konsertissa kuullaan kauniita lyyrisiä säveliä, jotka kasvavat räjähtäväksi rytmijuhlaksi tablan säestyksellä.

Vartakin opettaja on ollut kuuluisa bansuri-virtuoosi Hariprasad Chaurasia, joten konsertissa on luvassa korkealaatuisin musiikkia.

Accessibility

There are stairs at the entrance leading both to the lobby and from the lobby to the concert hall. The concert hall features ascending seating. There is no elevator or accessible restroom at RioLive.
